The NL is horrible this year. If the mets were in the AL east, they would be lucky to win 85 games this year! Tampa Bay could win the nL east this year!

Mets cheating with corked bats? Where'd you come up with that? Besides, the NL East is a terrible division. While the Mets may be running away with the division, their not even close to having the best record in baseball. So even if they are cheating, it's not going to help them in the playoffs when they have to face much better competition.

Because this isn't basketball where almost every team makes it in. If there were more games, it would take longer to do the season, and while you would think it would be popular, extended playoffs actually aren't exciting to most fans.
Remember, 10 years ago, there were only two divisions in each league and only one playoff before the WS. The addition of the wildcard and the additional round are recent additions, and exciting ones at that (especially with 4 of the last 5 Champions coming from Wild Card berths).
However, I think 2 additional teams (so lets say a playin game/series between the two wildcards) would add too much time to the playoffs and throw a lot of teams off cycle/rotation.
don't really have an ax to grind on this subject. I think baseball shot itself in the foot a long time ago by not dealing with a serious problem and now the reprecussions are only beginning to hit the fan. They created their own bed of nails and now they have to lie on it.
To compare Bonds to Gaylord Perry or Bob Gibson is laughable. I will concede that Perry did "cheat" but hitting guys with a pitch just means they get a base (I realized that intentionally doing it now is "cheating" however it does get you ejected). Bonds pumped his system full of drugs that, while not excluded under baseball's non-existant drug policy, were illegal in the United States. If cocaine wasn't covered under baseball's policy would it have been OK for Bonds to snort a line off of homeplate every at-bat?
Boozing it up at the bar and intentionally shooting drugs that will improve your muscle mass, increase recovery time, improve reflexes, enhance eyesight, etc. are hardly the same thing. They are all-together different types of substance abuse. Bonds was using drugs to be bigger, stronger, faster and better conditioned than he would have been or COULD have been under normal conditions. He was absolutely and without question a different player than he would have been without the drug use.
I don't know if this keeps him out of the HOF or not. Pete Rose is out for something he did after he was done playing. Bonds (and many others) changed the nature of the game on an at-bat by at-bat basis by their actions. Simply because baseball willfully chose to ignore them despite wildly available evidence that steroid/HGH use was going on, to me, does not make these actions acceptable.
Bonds, likely, will never miss a game despite all this.

I'd rather have corked bats than the Braves.
Go Mets.

Corked bats? What proof? I hate the mets more than anyone but you got to be responsible with your accusations.

Corked bats is bs, but I'm sure there are a lot of steroid users (on many teams).

I'm not a Mets fan, but I don't think they've been found guilty of cheating... Part of the history with baseball is to see what you can get away with (stealing signs, doctoring the ball, etc.), so cheating kind of comes with the territory. More power to the Mets if they've figured out a way to beat the other team... Of course, if they get caught, they'll get appropriately punished.
