Maids are great!!!
Sounds like you could use a monthly or bi-monthly visit since you're good at cleaning, but need that extra um-ft of cleanliness.
We got a maid when my dad was super sick, my sister was in HS, and I was working full time. She became almost part of the family coming twice a week. Since my dad passed, and my sister went to college, I don't really need her, but use her every three months to chat and she'll do the stuff that never gets done like windows, and wood polish for the kitchen cabinets.

I hired MM for two months while I recuperated from surgery. They cleaned 1 br, 1.5 bath, living, sitting, and dining rooms once a week. That was 4 yrs ago and I paid around $60 per visit (slightly more for their first visit). It was fine as a temporary solution while I couldn't do anything myself but I agree with those who say you can probably do as good or better job yourself if you are so inclined (and have the time).
What IS worth the money sometimes is to hire out tasks that are so big that you and your family might not get to them. These are things that one doesn't do that often but they can make a real difference. In my own case the list would include such things as washing the windows that are too high for me to safely handle, inside & out; shampooing carpets and upholstered furniture; painting; someone to help moving furniture so you can vacuum under it, etc. I do fine with a vacuum cleaner and a scrub brush. But sometimes my house needs more than that.

We had our 4 bedroom 3 bathroom home cleaned top to bottom for less than 200 dollars, they did a great job... cleaned the bottom of the kitchen chairs, behind the TV, it was crazy, I don't think the house has ever been that clean!

The good thing about Merry Maids is that they are bonded. So there is a slim chance that you will have things stolen from their employees. All cleaning companies have employees and when you have employees you have people that will look for shortcuts to make their job easier. After they clean your house, if you aren't happy with their work you can call them and they will return to make you satisfied. If they don't, call the franchise office and report your unhappiness. It's amazing at how fast they will respond. Over all, franchised companies do good jobs. Good Luck

we had merry maids a couple of years back - all in all a happy experience.
I think they charged around $60 a week and came in once during the week. Basically they vacuumed, dusted, picked up clothes, toys, etc.
But if you just want them to give the house a once over they may charge more. As far as I can remember they charge according to the number of "merry maids" and also the amount of time they stay
good luck

I had what I called a 'swat team' of cleaning ladies. They were from Poland (I'm polish too, but born American). Anyway, they would come in and clean for one hour, four ladies for my home which is about 2400 sq. ft. I paid $78.00 per hour. This was 4 BR/3BA, living/dining/kitchen. Initially they did a good job, but then it was what I like to call, 'hotel' cleaning. You know, fluff the pillows, dust without moving anything on top of the dressers, etc. I ended up canceling them because I wasn't satisified with their work. I do it myself now.

My sister used to work for merry maids in Denver, CO until she landed her present full time job. Two of her customers still call her to help with housecleaning once a week. She gets $50.00 for 4 hrs. Ask the cleaning service if their maids are bonded, who secures the bond and who did their background investigation. If they can't or won't answer these questions, you don't want them in your house.

i know it is entirely based upon a difference in management and so on- so forth...
but don't be certain they have a better eye for your house's cleanliness than you yourself. you are your best critic!
when my sister worked for the merry maids company...
if they encountered a room or house that pretty much looked clean...they just sprayed fragrance and called it good
they've had employees jack change jars
they sometimes leave a bigger mess than they began with, with the bringing in of company vaccumes and such
final summation?
it can be a nice treat to destress once, like getting a mani or pedi....but honestly do you trust complete strangers in your home? your pride and joy?

yes we had the experience of "clean in their eye" but not in "your eye" problem with house cleaning maids.
For example, we believe the grout in the kitchen needs to be cleaned of oil and residue. The maid did not. I do a better job myself.
