My favorite player is Lofa Tatupu, middle linebacker for the Seahawks. Lofa came in as a rookie out of USC (1 yr early) and not only filled the middle for a struggling defense but took over the defensive signal calling. He brought in intensity and confidence to a defense that needed leadership, especially with Ray Rhodes out for much of the season as defensive coordinator. All of this, and he was just a rookie!
Yes, the Seahawks were All Pro caliber on offense but it was the defense that got them to the Super Bowl and that can be attributed largely in part to Lofa Tatupu. What a bright future the Seahawks have in this gem.

Mike Singletary and Walter Payton.
They both were the classiest, most awesome players I've ever seen play. Singletary ruled Defense with a pair of eyes that frightened the bejeezus out of anyone who had to look into them from the other side of the line of scrimmage.
Payton was just beautiful in his form and his abiltiy to pull a long yardage play out of a sure sack.
Football will be hard pressed to find any 2 players to ever replace them.

Michael Vick may be a good player but just Virginians place too much hope in him because he's like the "hometown favorite". His brother is not making him look too good, either. I like Tiki Barber, Ben Roethlisberger, and that other player from the Steelers...Troy Polamalu #43. He played really well throughout the season up to the Super Bowl and looked very good doing it...

If I can choose from past players, I would choose John Riggins because he had a great sense of humor, and his best attribute was that when he scored a touchdown, he would just toss the ball to the referee, and wouldn't act like an idiot doing those stupid touchdown dances.

Sean Alexander. Obviously the best Running Back currently. He broke the record. And he plays 4 the seahawks, which is the closest team to Portland. They should have won the super bowl.

Despite injury problems and lack of starts....DeShaun Foster is one of my favorite players...just because when he is playing...that guy can slip out of tackles and burst down field...especially against atlanta last year...he had like 300 yards against them (including a few receiving yards) showing he's a decent go-to guy. If his durability becomes a problem, I'll have to join up with the rest of my Panther fans in saying Peppers or Smith...but right now..I'll stick with Foster...

Cristiano Ronaldo or Alan Smith, they both bring a dimension to the pitch that nobody else does. Two of the best footballers.
