If you are having some kind of procedure done, checking your colon, then yes it is neccesary. The colon must be cleaned out completely. Also if that is the case do not drink anything purple or brown, clear liquids only unless told differently by your dr.

Well, if you have enough fiber in your diet, you can probably avoid it. But if you don't have enough, or you are getting on with the years, you probably should.

After all, any waste in the colon that is there for too long can attribute to colon cancer.
