No, not banned, as something else would take it's place.
Teens and preteens want some place to chat, and interface on the internet.
Myspace needs to be more pro-active and responsible (going to industry conferences, for example) on internet safety for children. Other companies are a bit more forthcoming.
My kids all have a myspace, as do I, and I have access to their sites. You can't blame businesses for parents not paying attention--there will always be something.

I agree totally with Shawna. I also have a Myspace account as does my teenage daughter. The pedophile excuse is just that, an excuse. It is just "another" way for pedophiles to get access to kids. If it wasn't there, then it would be somewhere else. It is up to the parents to teach their children how to be cautious at all times and that includes (especially) on the internet as they may be more vulnerable if they "think" they are talking to someone else and cannot actually "see" them. Anyone can put a picture of someone else on their Myspace profile, it is up to the person viewing it to use their better judgment.
Speaking of better judgment, parents should monitor their childrens Myspace account. What the parent can see is the same thing everyone else can see, if they don't want the parent seeing it, then there must be something "wrong" with it. Take for example the pics that some children put up. If you are 14 and you put up a picture of yourself half-naked on your bed, you WILL get unwanted attention. You can also put a privacy block on your account (this is mandatory if you are underage and put in your correct age), then the only people viewing your profile are those that you truly WANT viewing it, those on your friends list.
I enjoy Myspace because it has given me the extra outlet to keep in touch with family and many high school friends whom I had lost touch with over the years and/or make new friends through the many groups available.

It should continue. I've met up with so many old high school friends that, had I not joined it, I would've missed out on a ton of new memories. I think it's great, in fact, I learned all sorts of things from it, such as HTML and DIV codes, it's crazy. I don't think it should be banned... it isn't hurting anybody... is it?

What's MySpace.com? Just kidding. I've had my profile since 2003. It's cool catching up with old friends but some of the time it isn't. I don't know.

I don't understand the appeal of my space. The majority of my friends have them, but I still think they are a waste of time. (Have you seen all the articles in the news about teens being raped by people they met on MySpace?)

I don't get myspace....
I guess people don't know how to swap e-mail adresses anymore.. they need all their "friends" in the same spot.
One more crine because of that web site and it better go.

I don't use it, it's got a bad reputation for harboring pedophiles who like to hunt down precocious teenagers.
Any adult on Myspace is a pervert.
