I am wondering why africa americans fought so hard to be able to sit in the front of the bus but today's generation of african american teens always sit in the far back. Why is this? Will someone please clear this up for me?

They did not fight to sit in the FRONT of the bus. They fought for the choice to sit anywhere and go into any place they wanted to. They fought for FREEDOM the bus issue was to make a point that they did not have to give up their sit to a white person because they were made to feel less of a person because they were not white.

Because of the fight, blacks can now sit anywhere they like even the back. Where I'm from, the front of the bus sits the elderly and the "cool" people went to the back. Even on the yellow school bus, the cool kids always sat in the back.

Those who sit up front seek respect. Those who sit at back just want to chill out. That both is irrelevant to skin color., that's why those up front have to struggle to do so (as blacks) and those at back dont give a d a m n(as blacks). The former by populer demand, apparently applies to blacks in a tougher, older era, no doubt other minorities had to struggle for that, too. The latter by populer demand, applies to the contemporary era, whatever color of skin, and though there might be a "struggle", it is not about respect but more about territory/turf.

In other words, stop comparing apples to oranges, the times are different.

Well nowadays, I believe that the air conditioner is in the back as opposed as to a lack of any in the past.

Then again, even I don't know why teens in general would sit in the back. Maybe to avoid being caught for doing something? Maybe to have some privacy?

this generation didnt do the fighting; African Americans also fought for education, yet many of todays generation place no value on it.

I think back then people had more pride. And these days people are just into being cool thats why everyone wants to sit in the back because they think it's cool.

Because they can. Freedom of choice. Yet apparently "they" cannot escape the generalizations that come with racial stereotyping
