ok... PEOPLE! inversly means the product between x and y are same....
so when y=-3 and x=6
-3*6=-18
-18/36=-1/2 or -0.5

d. 18 is the respond. enable us to make sure the stairs. y = 3 and x = 6 and we are presented that y is inversely proportional to x. So y / x = a million/2 So, on a similar time as x = 36, y = x. a million/2 = 36.a million/2 = 18

If y varies inversely as x, therefore :
y = k/x (where k is a constant)
y= -3 when x=6
y = k/x (Substituting values of y and x)
-3 = k/6
-18 = k
Now that we know the value of the constant k = -18
Find x when y = 36
Applying
y = -18 / x
36 = -18 / x
36x = -18
x = -18 / 36
x = - 1/2
x = - 0.5
Hope you understand.

if the variation is inverse then the product of the variables is constant
(6)(-3)=(x)(36) and so x=-18/36 or –1/2
so remember if ‘x’ and ‘y’ vary directly the quotient x/y is always the same ans
if ‘x’ and ‘y’ vary inversely the product x*y is always the same

if y = -3, then x = 6
if y now become 36 you have multiplied by -12
However y varies INVERSELY so you must DIVIDE x by -12 to find the new x

I can think of two possible answers....y could be -9 and y could be -18.
