No. The mind only works via the brain. Alter the brain structure, alter brain chemistry, and you mess directly with the mind, its senses, its memories, its processing of thoughts and information and impulses. Damage his/her brain and damage a person's mental faculties.

Consequently, I don't think the mind and consciousness continues to exist once a person has died. One can delude oneself into thinking otherwise.

I would say yes, just because most people reference the brain as the actual physical part in your body and the mind as the spiritual/ source of thought/ intangible...etc.
