You're right in assuming that since social norms have evolved, social chemistry must evolve with them.
Pornography is not an essential part of the struggle. Most pornographic materials are made, indelibly so, to appeal to the male mind. Finding pornography that caters specifically to a female audience would be as difficult as finding a phone sex line that caters to a female audience -- sex is a male-dominated industry.
It depends entirely on the preconceived notions of what's going into it. A sociopathic mind might take pornography and use it as evidence to why all women are whores and sluts, why men are superior, etc. Misogyny is not something someone learns from a videocasette.

I don't think so, its a lifestyle choice and its not as though there not getting paid. Pimping women on the streets however is different, thats not a choice for some women, just an answer, and that is degrading and inhumane!!
I think that any place where there is not equal gender opportunities is degrading to either gender, and that is wrong... the stereotypical women in the home and men at work scenario is almoset role reversed in some households, but I think men and women should be treated equally!!
What is wrong and degrading towards women is the whole partriarchal society c**p... that is not equal, and it should be, after all with new technologies coming about, it should be women that would be taking over the world as men are no longer needed what with artificial s***m etc, could be argued that that is degrading to men??

The women I know who have worked as strippers or nude models are far more in control of their lives than some other women. Case in point: three women I know who think that pornography is the most degrading thing int he world are all living on welfare and have children that they can't support without their child support payments - form men they don't live with and are often VERY abusive (I've seen the black eyes and busted lips).
Meanwhile the strippers I've known control their own money - one owes her home outright without any payments due after FIVE years and another paid for college without taking out loans and is now getting her DOCTORATE in advanced mathematics.
The sites you refer to are predatory sites that get young women who don't know better to do "one shot" pictorials for cr@ppy money and tell them they will be a rich porn star.
Anything someone does that doesn't degrade that person, fine. If it promotes putting anyone in the light of being a second class - it's wrong. But if they are professional and they control their own careers I say more power to them!

Of course it is degrading to women,it allows men to think of women as stupid, obedient, sexual servants, there purely for their gratification. This image trickles out into society and effects the way men think about women and women think about themselves.
Women feel that they have to compete for the attention of the male and they feel that they have to be there for his pleasure and if they are all the things he wants then he will stay with them,be faithful to them etc etc Wrong !!
Men basically want sex from a woman, any woman they choose without emotional attachment !

Yes and No. Some is degrading to women, some to men, some to animals, some to vegetables, some to random objects. Only femi-nazi choose to focus on such issues.

not only to the women who are probably willing participants
but more so to those who view it and society at large.
there used to be a time way back in the eighties when you didn't
even use foul language around strangers or mixed company.

YES. the ones who do these things already feel bad
about themselves, and keeping on with this course
makes it worse.
