How can you get someone to WANT to change?

I was interested in them in the first place because I thought they were different than they really turned out to be. I guess I fell in love with his facade...

You can't change people. You can only influence them. They have to make the changes for themselves.

I am a firm believer that you cannot get people to change, they will change if they want to. If there changing happens to align better with what your idea of them is, then great. Now, how to get someone to want to change, that's tough. Sometimes getting them to talk about what it is they want to change, sometimes telling them that they shouldn't change (this works quite a bit), they may be curious and want to explore this more. People usually change when there is some vested interest in changing; I don't think anyone would change just for the sake of changing (but I have been known to be wrong).

In my opinion this is a true statement.
I have thought about it a lot. and this is the best that I have come up with.
"people dont change, they evolve." so to get someone to want to change. I have not clue. Im sure some one would know though.

Tell them what is waiting for them if they do...but I don't understand why you can't love them like they are. That IS who they are.Why were you interested in them in the first place?Love is acceptance.
