I don't know who invented the spare wheel, but my car doesn't have one. Instead I was supplied with a couple of pressurised canisters containing air and some kind of solvent. When the tyre is flat you simple place the nozzle of the canister on the wheel valve and inject the air/solvent into the wheel. It both inflates the wheel and seals the puncture.
I don't know who invented that, but surely they were some kind of genius.

its ok for u ive just bought a renault and it doesnt even have a spare wheel just two cans to fix the puncture :( so i presume whoever invented the spare wheel wasnt french
