Using Microsoft Word, rather than use the "drop down list" to increase the size of your single character, click in the box that you see the "72" then simply type the size you want (ie 100) then hit "Enter" If you find the size is too small or too big, simply do the same again and input a different value.

what version of word are you using?
because you can normally just type in the size you want this replaces the clicking on the size window and scrolling down the list.
alternatively try ctrl+shift then just repeatedly press the > key for larger and the < if you go a little too far.
Don't forget to adjust your margins to that of the minimum your printer supports.
as others have said you can try the same tricks within windows paint or any other graphics program.
but the key sequence above should be fine for your needs.
you can just type 780 in to the size window (for times new roman at normal (not italicised or bold etc.) print. (i just attempted this for you in word 2003, it works. (capital A as test character)

You can type the size you want in the font size box - try 500 - than insert a page break after each letter to get 1 letter per page.

When using word, where the drop down for the size is, you can type in your own number (e.g 700), which should do what you want.

You would have to use a picture editing program such as paint shop pro or photo shop and save it as a .bmp file then you could re-size it to fit the page
