Preferred countries to visit? Places with good food (Italy and Thailand come to mind), good beer (Germany, Ireland, other parts of Europe) and places where you can get away with not knowing a language other than English (the UK, Australia, much of Europe.)
Countries that Americans tend to like? Ones that do what we tell them to (the UK, Israel) and ones where we aren't treated *too* rudely (Canada, Mexico, Australia, Japan, Thailand.) Not that I endorse such egocentrism: it's just the way a lot of Americans are.

Aside from the US, there are lots of candidates, with Great Britain at the top of the list. I also like France and Germany, notwithstanding that their economic policies are a disaster. Australians are good folks. And, I spend five years in Saudi Arabia, which was fascinating. The religion sucks, but the people are nice.

Americans are of multiple nationalities, race and ethnic groups. All depend who you ask... I personally like those countries supportive of American policies and way of life. Countries that come to mind, among many: Canada, England, Australia... Of the European "Allies"?? I dont care much for the french or even the Germans...specially the french are anti-American in my opinion.
