The Tigers are definately for real. As a matter of fact, I think they are so real that they will win the World Series. Before their series with the White Sox, people said they couldn't beat high caliber teams. Who won that series, the Tigers!
They have an unbelieveable pitching staff, highlighted by Kenny Rogers, Jeremy Bonderman, a couple of 100MPH fireballers in Justin Verlander and Zumaya, and an excellent closer in Jones.
They are likely to have at least 3 15 game winners this season.
We haven't even mentioned their batting yet. They have an amazing batting order. I mean, they're batting Brandon Inge last, and that says a lot for the quality of the order. Their clutch hitting is superb, I would say just about as good as the White Sox.
Thier fielding is also top notch. Curtis Granderson has comitted about one error this whole year, Pudge has a bunch of gold gloves, and Rogers will go and get any ball hit near him.
They also have the perfect attitude for a Championship team, with lots of youth, which guarantees victory in future years too. Again, Tigers for the Camps, hands down.
Plus, if they acquire Alfonso Soriano they will be just about unbeatable. He would add to their already stacked lineup and almost flawless defense.

Detroit has feasted on poor teams and has struggled with good teams. Prior to the Chicago series, detroit was 3 -11 against Ch, NY & Bos. They are now 5-12. Look for an early exit if they make the playoffs.

I don't have faith in Todd Jones as their closer. The middle relief is good but they're young and maybe not cut out yet for postseason action.
If they can try and get a setup guy from a team that's losing right now, say Roberto Hernandez - a former closer, they can at least have him around as insurance in case Jones melts down the stretch.

Strangely, they are for real. Pudge finally gets to play on a contender!
As the AL is definitely stronger than the NL this year, if they make the world series, Detroit will romp. Congrats.

Jim Leighland is the man..the Tigers will go on to win their division and beat the White Sox in the ALCS and will win it all against the Cardinals...f**K the White Sox..along with Ozzie Guillen and AJ Pierzynski...biggest pansies in all of baseball..enough said.

I think they win the Central, but will not make it to the World Series. Great managerial job by Jim Leyland!

I think so amazing what a few changes and money can do. They have a chance to win it all just like Chicago did last year.
