Use a crossover ethernet (Cat 5e) cable from one computer's RJ45 port to the RJ45 port of the other computer. Set up Network wizard as computer to computer connection. Once set up as direct connection you'll be able to drag and drop from one computer to the other. Give the files a chance to transfer. Be sure the files are the same size to verify no data loss before you delete the old files.
Ethernet is faster than USB.
Good luck.

As mentioned above, there are specialized USB cables for it, or you can use a cross-over ethernet cable (RJ-45) to do it (note that this is a special kind of ethernet cable, not your usual one). If the first PC does not have an ethernet port, then you can use a USB ethernet adapter for it.
Another option, if the second PC has a wireless ethernet card, is to get a USB wireless ethernet card for the first PC. This would allow them to talk wirelessly. This is slower than the wired version, though, so if you have large amounts of data to transfer this may not be the best approach. If there's already wireless networking available, just configure the 1st PC to connect to the existing network. If not, set one PC to be a peer-to-peer network, and then tell the other PC to connect to the available peer-to-peer wireless connection from the 1st PC.
