As soon as Windows starts it freezes before i could access the hard drive for disk scanning and defragment. I tried to access Windows in Safe Mode but the system locks up before I could make a selection. Is there any method wherein i can bypass this problem so i can have full access in safe mode and diagnose my PC?

Sounds like your system is toast. Here's a trick, re-install Windows, but don't reformat the hard drive. Once the install is done, backup your files. After you have backed up your files, then format and install of Windows again. This will ensure a clean machine. Had to do this to my boss' machine to get all his files after his computer crashed. Safe Mode didn't work either.

Have you done anything to your system as of late? Safemode is supposed to be your bypass method. Its either F8 or F10... it should let u pick and off you go. Is the drive clicking? If so its shot. If you have another system, daisy chain the HD up and backup what you need then reinstall windows...
