you've driven how many times now? you can take your theory at any time, the earlier the better, i will take mine soon and ive only had about 3 lessons :) but i dont think it is the norm to take the practical so early, i mean dont you have like one lesson per week? that would mean you've only taken a few lessons like me, i think you're being really rushed here
wait a sec, do u know your highway code and the rules of the road and the cockpiyt drill and all that jazz, your examiner will look at that - remember safety is the utmost important thing, and you have to remember that, you must do the 360 degree mirror check etc, have you even managed to learn that yet...and what about all of those manouvers, surely you havent managed to learn those in just 2 lessons!
ok, so you have driven before, well i think you still need to get used to the new car and have a few more lessons atleast...
btw, i think the average number of lessons for passing is about 45 lessons, and you have merely taken 2! well whatever you do, good luck x

You might well be ready in terms of knowing how to handle the car but in terms of road sense you just can't have enough experience unless you've been driving long before you started lessons.
A lot of instructors put you in for a test early because then the examiner will specifically highlight your flaws. Plus it gives you experience of what to expect from a test. With 'boy racer' types it's also a good way to stop them being arrogant and realise it's not all about speed.
Then again I guess some people are just natural drivers.

When I was a instructor I found out very quickly that everyone is different. If you've had alot of experience in the car it will show in your driving. When I learn't to drive my instructor told me the same thing and I passed first time. But I'd had loads of time on the road before that with my mom. So, my advice is to listen to your instructor. He sounds a pretty decent chap. Believe or not, some instructors will hold test ready pupils back simply to get the extra lessons/money out of them. But if you're comfortable in the car and feel ready go for it and good luck.

No youre not ready to take a test. He dont sound like a good instructor if he told you to put your foot down? You should have as many as you can so you get the experience. The theory test is multiple choice (was when I took it 11 yrs ago) and its common sense really. Only you know if youre ready. There is no rush, best to take your time and pass first time then to hurry it through and fail. Good luck!

You have got to be making this up ....... I passed my test after twelve lessons and much experience driving with my father in his car .... then six years later I passed my advanced driving test. Your instructor is either a renegade or you have had a lot more experience than you are making out. No one is ready after only two lessons and its not just a question of you passing you test, it is about you maturing on the road as a safe and responsible person to be there. Two lessons and pass? In your dreams ....

Got my 3rd driving test next week, once you pass your theory you can take your test when ever you want, test centres are getting so booked up, take a few more lessons before your test but only take it if your ready, remember its you taking the test not your instructor. Once its booked at least you have something to aim for. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 lessons is the norm...or at least I think. When I was trying to get my DL I only went through three lessons before I went and took the test.....and the test was really simple.
