J. Paul Getty was an oil billionaire who, in the early days of the 20th century, failed time after time before he swindled six or seven banks out of enough money to drill one last well. The well came in, and he promptly paid off the banks, but openly admitted that, had the well been dry, he was planing to escape to Mexico.
Pres. Harry Trueman failed at everything he tried until he got into politics.

Do you really think everyone who has succeeded did it the first time around and on the first try? Nah. What makes the people great is that they kept trying even tho they may have failed the first time around.

Flemings discovery of penicillin was the result of a failed experiment on other bacteria.. He unknowingly left a prepared dish out and it became contaminated and as he thought, useless. It was only when he decided to analyse the mould that had grown did he find its medicinal qualities. Anti-biotics are probably the single biggest life improvement to living species, and discovered because of a "failed experiment".

well, george w has failed at just about everthing his daddy has given him to run, i wouldnt call him great, but it seems like the presidency his daddy bought for him is just another blown opportunity. There are lots of products that have failed at what they were meant to do, but ended up as great successes used in a different way. Im sure there are many lucky idiots out there too.

There is no such thing as failure, except not learning from your mistakes.
I know lots of people who have suffered terribly from abuse, neglect, discrimination, poor health. They have survived and remained caring, gentle people. What is success to you?
