yes...u would....the highspeed from the air and then hitting the water..might as well be concrete

The acceleration of gravity is 32ft per second per second, so every second you are falling, you are accelerating an additional 32 feet per second. Depending on the particular skydiver you could assume a coefficient of friction for moving through the air, which would allow you to calculate the maximum speed attained by the aforementioned skydiver before impact. That way, at least one could calculate how dead the skydiver would be after impacting the water, which would feel like concrete, but only for a fraction of a second before death.

The current record for falling out of an airplane is held by a Hungarian air hostess, who was on an airplane that blew up at 35,000 ft. She was thrown from the plane (with no parachute) and landed on a pile of hay, and survived. She was badly mangled, but lived. This is true, I have read loads about this woman, as it fascinates me. However, you'd have to say that the chances of it ever happening to anyone again are very remote. Incidentally, a cat cannot die from a fall from any height. It was researched by a vet in NY in the 1980s and he discovered that because of their size/weight/agility an average cat can survive a fall from any height. Freaky eh?

Well, the impact would certainly be bad. Do a belly flop off the high dive at a pool sometime and see how bad it hurts.
You would probably die, however there have been several cases of people hitting the ground from 5,000 feet or more without parachutes that have not only survived but gotten up and walked away.
The safest advice is "Don't do it"

Yeah because at that speed you would just hit the bottom and still die. 12 feet of water isnt going to help you.

You got the story wrong. If you jump with a hammer and the hammer hits first, it will break the surface tension and create a soft landing.

yeah 12 ft of water wont stop your fall
it would make it easier, but hitting the surface tension of the water would kill you just as if you hit dry land

some people have survived such a fall after hitting a field of grass. I guess the situation you mention gives a whole new meaning to the term "belly flop".

Yes. Hitting water at a certain speed is the same as hitting cement.

You'll probably die before you hit the ground. Due to the speed travelled, you'll probably experience a heart attack/ heart failure. At least, that's what my old physics teacher Mr Oates told me. Triple peace out :)
