Once I was driving home at night in a thunderstorm after a party and the rain got absurdly hard; I could not even see the end of my hood, just a subdued glow from my headlights out in front of me. I pulled over to wait for it subside. The next day it turned out a tornado had come through the area right at that time. I had been in my car only about 300 hundred yards from the path.

Wow. I didn't realize it was an F4 until I read that article in sources just now.

When I was a little girl we had to leave our home and out run one. (my brother and I stood in the seat of dads pickup and watched through the rear view mirror) It was an f5 and i believe the only f5 in Oklahoma before the one a few years ago. 12 people died that day. I use to watch the trains go by and in that neighborhood back then but the tornado ripped one right off the tracks and and made it look like it was tied in knots. I guess we were just a couple of blocks from it. We were very lucky to have made it to the church basement in time.

One time i was playing paintball in a field and a tornado went through and tore the fence off and into the air all around me. I tried to run but i couldnt run against the wind and i was just running in place.... lucky for me it left before it could pick me up and throw me. It was pretty awesome!!
And ive been in a lot of hurricanes..... i live in southern louisiana, an hour south west of New orleans

Never been close or even seen one, thank God. I've been through some hurricanes too. I would rather not have to do either...but living in Texas kind of blows that choice away!

one happened where i live in 2003. i was in the basement and it came through my backyard tearing things up. it toppled two trees that was in the backyard next door. the trees landed on the house next door and it cracked the foundation of the house but i only got roof damage and some broken windows. thank GOD for my safety and the people that lived next door was in the front of the house not in the back where the trees fell and exposed the whole inside of the house. we were blessed that night sweetie
