So much ignorance. Do you all really think boycotting gas stations would lower gas prices? Make the "evil corporations" hear you? Please!
This may come as a big surprise but gas stations are not owned by some "big evil CEO", they are franchises, bought and payed for by hard working men and women with families.
I have several friends who own gas stations as family businesses and if you think you're hurting from gas prices, talk to a station owner. They make very little from the gas they sell in the first place and to boycott them for a month could seriously put many out of business. Most money they make is selling concessions to people that come in to pay for their gas, they are already selling it as cheap as they can and still get by. Why not organize your little rally to do something that will actually help the problem, rally up all these people and encourage LESS fuel use, lower your dependence on gas. Not that it would ever happen but it would be a real shame if enough idiots gathered together and hurt the people who are already hurting the most from gas prices, the station owners. There is a difference in a democracy and putting honest hard working people out of business.

I think that carpooling and taking the bus and walking are all great ways to save money on gas and to save natural resources like fossil fuels and the air we breathe.
As to using these acts to boycott (I assume you mean boycotting high gas prices), of course it won't work. First of all, the gas prices are based on supply and demand. If everyone consistently used less gasoline, the prices would go down, but only because the demand would be lower, not because OPEC or any other oil company would be giving in to anyone's demands. Secondly, even if the US uses less and less fuel, China with 1/4 of the population of the world and India with a huge chunk of people are using more and more and more fuel by the day as they continue to become more industrialized, so the amount that the US uses or doesn't use won't make that much of a difference.

Wont work. Number one reason--Urban Sprawl. People are moving away from the things they need and where they work. We have to drive. We cannot get around it. What will make a change is when people start seeing the alternative fuels (ie biodiesel, E85). This will have supply and demand come into play. Demand will go down while supply goes up.

Yes i kinda think that this will work cause if somebody put out posters everywhere, and tell people not to drive their cars take the bus, cab,or any other thing that would keep you from going to the gas station.

If everyone in the country who drives a car would for ONE DAY not buy ANY gas, that would probably make a difference. We wouldn't be able to pull that off though because Americans just HAVE to buy gas...

only a day going without gas, the gasoline companies would be devastated. The amnt of money they would lose would be enormous. Due to the laws of supply and demand, to sell the extra gas they have, the price would have to be dropped. One day is prob not enough tho...a week would have potentially fatal affects on our economy though... its a vicious circle

No, boycotting will not work.
You don't diver your car, and take the bus...
Bus drivers will go to pump up the gas.
You take trip to another country, the planes need gas...
Truck drivers have to get the gas for their trucks so they can deliever the products to your local food store, clothes store, ....whatever that store is.
boycotting...no, it won't work..

I don't think it will work either ... for the same reasons as you believe. It's a sad, sad society we live in isn't it?! Where has the heart of all the American people gone off to?

how do you plan on getting around. That would be neat. Everyone boycotting and no one going to work or anything. I wish I was a millionaire, but unfortunately I am not.

That is true, plus Bush and Cheney would just use more gasoline to make up for the lost sales to padd their wallets. You know that all Americans pay for their fuel consumption.
