The most likely cause of fetal alcohol syndrome is a LOT of alcohol consumption during pregnancy. That is, it's mostly peope who are already and otherwise alcoholics who turn out to have babies with fetal alcohol syndrome. One glass of wine or an occasional beer won't make any difference. There is plenty of scientific evidence on this.

I believe they can detect it by a blood test but I don't know if that is 100%. They can definately tell once the baby is born. Don;t drink anymore!!!!
