The media tends to stick with one player no matter what. However, after the last game that Blake played (sponsered by RCA, loved the dog commercials), everyone one should be talking about Blake.
The play before his last winning point, set point, when Blake went for the ball way across court anyway!!! That was amazing athletics..Tennis.
That play inspired me to never give up on anything!!!

James Blake is having a marvelous season, which could have been even better if he had of done better in the Grand Slams. (Especially at Wimbledon when he lost in five sets to Max Mirnyi....6-1, 6-0 in the last two sets....ouch!!). Outside of Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer; no one is playing better than Blake right now this season. Blake has a win over Nadal this year, and he's improved so much over the last 2 years. Now up to a career #5 in the world, I'm so impressed with Blake's game and tough determination.
The match on Sunday vs Andy Roddick in Indianapolis was high drama. It looked as though Roddick was going to win it, he was holding his services games easily and Blake was struggling and double faulting in his, he held off break points and found a way to win each of his service games to force a tie-breaker. Blake showed a lot of heart, and hit some unbeleivable shots, and eventually won the match. He's one of fastest players out there. I'm so glad he's having the success that he's had after all he has been through with his father's death, and his own health issues. It just goes to show you that nice guys can do well, he's such a class act, and a good role model for kids. Job well done James Blake!!! Hope he can win the US Open.....that would be so sweet!!! It will tough to beat Federer, but Blake has won his last two matches vs Nadal.
I don't think that no one should give up on Roddick just yet, we are talking about a player who won the US Open a couple of years ago, and got to Back-to-Back Wimbledon finals in '04 and '05. The talent is there, and maybe Jimmy Connors will get him to play to the level he's capable of playing. I have to say that Andy played well in defeat last week vs Blake, he showed some signs of coming out of his slump. But the bottom line is that he never should have gotten rid of Brad Gilbert. Gilbert taught him strategy, and that is sorely missing from Roddick's game right now. I think Connors will help him in that area. I think before long you will see Roddick back in the top 5.

Yeah, you said what I want to say.
It's really time for us to give up Roddick. His only power is the serve. However, many male players can do the same serve as he did. Therefore, he is no more advantage in tennis court now. No matter how many coaches he change, the fact is not change.
Compare with Roddick, Blake is more comprehensive in all skill. Honestly, he is almost the same time to play professional tennis as Roddick. I think he did very well and really make obvious improvement.
The media is unfair to Blake, he got a really great season. He is totally under-rated.
Roddick is hopeless. The only reason for the people talking about him is due to his handsome and hot hunk looks.

I think that -fairly or not -that Roddick is more of a household name, especially outside of the relatively small group of tennis fans. Roddick took a major at an early age, and made it to back-to-back Wimbledon finals. Blake, while having the better season of the two, has not made it to a final of a major yet, and has blossomed relatively late for the sport.
Now, I missed their Indianapolis final, and wished I had seen it. It would be nice to see Blake get more endorsements -- he's athletic, extremely bright, and seems like a good guy. Making a run to at least the semis at Flushing Meadow would not hurt the cause!

its true. but they do credit james for what he has achieved the past year. I think they are keeping an eye on roddck mainly because he was former #1 and has won a major titlle. both things james has not achieved yet. therefore media is more focused on a struggling former #1 instead of another potential slam winner.
more dramatic I guess...

I hear he is getting a new coach. Jimmy Conners that should help him a lot. Blake is really the one everyone should keep their eye on he is going straight for #1 and soon I hope. Everytime I watch him he gets better and better.

I think because Andy hasn't lived up to his potential and something in you wants him to have it all. I think James can have it all too. I can see Andy and James trading rankings several times in the next three years, no 3 and 4.
