Do you use all of the all in one features? If not I would definetly go with a laser jet printer. They are so much better then ink jets in my opinion. As for a good printer, in laser jets...Oki makes a really good affordable printer...there color laser is $399 and there mono chrome is either $199 or $299 if you want ink jet though go with any epson.

It depends on what you are using the printer for. If you need another all-in-one that's cheap, you could try the Epson CX3810, which might be a little bit of a risk. You could also try the Canon MP150 or the HP Officejet 5610, which is more expensive but very popular and pretty well reviewed. If you do get another all-in-one, don't go too cheap or else you probably run into the same problem you had with the 1510. There are only a few sub-$100 all-in-ones that are any good.
If you just want any affordable new printer, you could get a mid level HP Deskjet (not too cheap) if you want to print documents or a Canon if you are interested in photos. If you print a lot and only print documents, then you can try an entry level laser like a Samsung ML-2010.
