If someone tried to kill you, you need to report it to the police; the prosecuting attorney will represent you in Court. Getting them to fill out a report could be an issue though...would have to come up with a series of yes or no questions and you could tap once for yes, two for no.

I don't think you have much of a case, my friend. Your reputation for spreading filth and disease can be seen as justifiable cause for your death. The person who tried to kill you can say that it was self-defense, that they feared for their life and safety because of your presence.
If you really want to pursue this, then contact Geoffrey Feiger, the guy who represented Jack Kevorkian in court. He's just crazy enough to take the case.

First report this to the police. Then get a order of protection, if you know who they are. Then I would call Cline Lions, I don't know if I spelled that correctly! Don't go out without some of your friends and don't stay alone. Lock up everything. Best of Luck!
