Fact, Carter was President in the late 70's, Reagan was elected in 1980. S&L scandal was in the 80's Reagan's administration eased or removed most regulations governing S&L's easing their way into bankruptcy.
Fact: Ken Lay was at Enron, not World Com. If you are going to make rediculous accusations that you claim are facts, you should at least get your "facts" straight.
Question: Why would you hold the federal government, no matter who is in charge responsible for the actions of private companies? It has been proven that the companies that you mentioned lied to the federal government several times over the years.

Fact:
Under Ronald Reagan, the U.S. went from the largest creditor nation in the world to the largest debtor nation in the world. Despite his propaganda about "tax and spend" Democrats, the largest tax hike in U.S. history and some of the largest deficit spending occured as the result of bills with his signature on it.
Fact:
$7 Trillion of the current $8 trillion of the national debt occurred during a Republican presidency.
Fact:
In 2000 when Bill Clinton left office the Federal surpluss was $1.6 trillion. Under the current administration, the Federal deficit reached $400 billion, a figure which is only what the government will admit to, since considerable additional spending is done under what are referred to as supplemental expenditures which are not part of the original budget.
Fact:
The current President was informed of the activities of terrorist organizations prior to 9/11. Until the planes actually hit the Twin Towers and the Pentagon, he did nothing about it. Afterwards, he complained that it was Clinton's fault for not dealing with the problem. That might make sense except for the fact that Clinton wasn't president when 2000+ Americans died.
Fact:
The current president claimed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, and invaded the country as a result... they didn't. He promised Americans that Iraqi's would embrace democracy and freedom. Three years later religious fundamentalists have brought the country to the brink of civil war. To date the war on terror has cost the lives of over 3000 American soldiers and roughly $250 billion. North Korea has nuclear weapons the current president is offering them "incentives" to dismantle their program
Why would I vote Democratic? Clinton was a true politician, dishonest, dishonorable, and basically not someone who I think deserved to hold the nation's highest office. But if we blame him for Worldcom and for Enron (which I really don't think were his fault). If we add to that the cost of the money he made the tax payers deal out for the Lewinsky scandal, if we add to that the hundred or so American lives that were lost in Somalia and Yugoslavia we have a president who cost the country about $15 billion and a fair number of men and women in uniform. This is terrible but...
Compare that to the $7 trillion wasted and 5000 lives lost (and still rising) as a result of Republican screw-ups and scandals.
Now you know why I vote Democrat.

Fact - "Crater" was never president. Jimmy Carter, however worked day and night on effective world peace initiatives, dedicated his energies to the release of the hostages in Iran, and left the country in strong and stable economic condition when he left office.
Fact - Ronald Reagan took full credit for the release of the hostages, announcing at his inauguration that they were flying over free air space as he spoke. Did he even have the decency to bring Carter to the podium and let them raise arms in victory together? No. Coincidence? No. Reagan's evil plot finally was revealed - it became known as the IranContra scandal.
Fact - Bill Clinton left office with a budget surplus, the first this government had experienced in years!
Fact - The Worldcom and Enron scandals were not caused by - or associated with - the Clinton administration. Those were private business scandals caused by greedy, gluttonous executives who profited from years of coddling by the Republican Party, and who believed that greed was good. Reagan's one motto throughout his eight years in office was: "All for One, Me..."
Fact - Republicans spent millions of taxpayer dollars trying to impeach Bill Clinton for lying to Congress (as if Congressmen aren't ever exposed to lies and deceit; hell, they mastered the art of deceit!).
Fact - Clinton left office with higher approval ratings than ever (which had to really rankle Republicans.
Fact - The Bush administration has committed more inhumane atrocities than any other in recent contemporary history. In collusion with the most evil, corrupt, incompetent, cowardly U.S. Congress ever to occupy Capital Hill, this administration has violated the Constitution so much that a well-respected U.S. Senator just yesterday announced he would introduce a bill to file suit against a sitting U.S. President!
Fact - The Bush administration has tarnished America's reputation as a world leader and global peacemaker, scaring other nations into considering their own nuclear weapons of mass destruction as a defense against the new 'evil empire' - bully Bush and the United States of America.
Fact - The Bush administration is responsible for the murder of tens of thousands of Iraqis for no justifiable reason, and the deaths of more than 2,500 U.S. soldiers (so far) so that Bush can 'finish' what his daddy started during Desert Storm and Cheney can get his hands on all that OIL.
