Those dim witted boobs who tell you that you need to move to Los Angeles or New York don't have a clue.
You want an agent, and casting calls in your area? Start taking acting lessons in your local area... network... you'll find out quickly who the reputable agents are in your area, and what you need to do to attract their attention. An agent will have all those casting calls, and will only send you out on the ones right for you.
If someone wants money from you in order to be your agent? Or tells you that you need to get hedshots done by "Their" photographer... run... don't walk.... run out of their office. And even though you are only 13, right now is the time to learn a litany of curse words to shout at them as you get up out of your chair to run. If you feel uncomfortable cursing at an adult, have your mother go with you, and make sure she uses the "F" word a lot the minute a prospective "Agent" talks about paying him or her a fee to sign up with them.

Pick up your phone book, and look up talent agents. Only work with someone that has a TA # and don't ever pay upfront! They get a % when you get a job and get paid.
They will find your casting calls for you.
