Because they are adorable and cute first off and also may be they remind people of someone they love like a substiture when that person is not available like mother, friend, boy friend, girl friend, husband or wife :) that has to be the true psychological reason behind it.

They are so cuddly. Did you know that they were named for Teddy Roosevelt. He had picked up a baby bear during a new conference and from then on the press labled it a Teddy bear. Just learned it recently and thought it was interesting enough to pass on.

Because they are cute. I heard on a TV show that researchers believe that people find Teddy Bears so appealing is that the facial features resemble a human baby (i.e. large eyes, nose, etc....not the human aspect of it).

Because they were named after a very famous President (Teddy Roosevelt)... It's gotta be aconspiracy... hmmm... I dunno... they are also ever so freakin' cute!!! The crustier the better!!!
