When i was little my mom died, but i don't know if i actually knew she was gone, or if I just didn't want to accept reality.

One thing you develop as you get older is a sense of time. When you are very young and you are told that a loved one went away,it is easy to just process it as just another thing that happens that you don't understand. It's not that you didn't want to accept reality,it is just that reality when your very young and when you get older are two different things.

Eh, I saw my uncle die of advanced HIV when I was 8, eventually he ended up with a tumor in his head that had to be drilled to let out pressure.

He picked some girl out of a bar that had it. Weird thing is I'm 22 now never had sex, only had 1 g/f that I cant seem to get completely over even though it was only 2 months, and ended over 4 years ago.

Kids know in their own way, what death is. It is not seeing a loved one anymore.
