Hey Bob, firstly, why do you have a coil? I bet your asking for you girlfriend?

I had one once and it hurt like hell to have it put in, had a little bit of pain throughout my cycle, but nothing too bad. See your GP if you are concerned that something is not right.

Well Bob - if you have a coil then its obviously not where it should be so yes, I would suspect that's the cause of your tummy problems.
However, if you are asking for your partner then I have had a coil for over 7 years now (replaced after 5 years) and I have NEVER had one problem.
Is your partners pain in the pelvic region where the womb and coil are or in the tummy which is actually quite high up above the womb.

It can do, but its worth checking its not anything serious, especially if this is a new thing with an old coil.

The risk is, that the pain is an ectopic pregnancy - unlikely, but very dangerous if it is. I would advise a quick trip to the GP to get it checked out and discuss it. If you cant go soon, then a pregnancy test will tide you over until you can go. If it shows pregnant - go to A+E as a matter of emergency. Either way, a visit to the GP should reassure.

Yes, it does. since I had mine fitted 18 months ago I've had period pains to the very max. It was hell for the first 4 to 5 months. Doc has checked me over and says its normal. But as with everything. If ur not sure get it checked.

When I had one, I used to get the odd twinge now and again. Go and see your doctor if you're worried. Hope you feel better soon.
