In the Autumn or Winter.. I went two weeks ago and it was hot and heaving with tourists - literally shoulder to shoulder packed. Another point to note is that no-one there speaks any other langauge than Spanish so finding your way around if you don't speak Spanish is an ordeal. However, it is a beautiful place to visit and well worth it. I'd recommend a visit to the zoo if you have time!

Do NOT go during the summer. We just returned. It's hot as Hell and crowded. Barcelona is a wonderful city to visit during the Spring and Fall. First I would take a tour bus to get an overview of the city. Visit all the A. Gaudi designed buildings - just amazing. Museums galore and wonderful...even a chocolate museum. The Aquarium is lovely. Barcelona architecture is unbelievable. Just walk walk walk....people watching is fabulous. The people eat late, walk the avenues late, party late and sleep late. Just go when it's not so hot and crowded.

I believe the springtime is the best bet.
Summer is to crowed and hot as hell! Also it's a city you have to do a lot of walking (half of it up hill) so it's better if the weather is nice and mild.
Winter, you can get some good days but beach is out (unless you like cold water)
Autumn is also nice, but you would miss the parks in bloom (Gaudí park on the hill is amazing to spend a day there) - a sight not to miss!

i went in november, the weather was still good no need for a coat. I found Barcelona very expensive especially eating out. the tour bus is good value for money and there are no beachs it a dock

that's what i wanna do too, visit Barcelona
i think probably summer. barcelona is a cool city and probably has lots of awesome beaches
and a famous stadium (LOL)
