As far as reducing Lag, you would need to get one or more of the following.

Faster CPU/Computer
More RAM
Better Video Capture Hardware - Better Speed and Video Ram
Better Video Capture software

As for the size of the video that can be adjusted by changing the resolution, try 800x600 instead of 640x480 or even 320x240. Or you can change the frame rate from 60 frames per second to 30FPS or 15FPS or lower. And you can also try a different format. Like if if the format is AVI you may want to try Quicktime or MP4.

To record a game in high quality, you have to use DirectX/OpenGL hooking program like Bandicam or Fraps.

I prefer to use Bandicam because it's free, easy to use, and much less lag than Fraps.

Also, you can upload the recorded file to YouTube without converting because the recorded file is much smaller than Fraps.

for examples)

- Fraps: 300MB
- Bandicam: 15~25MB
