He does not have good language skills but uses sign language. he is really into cars and balls of all types and also likes music. I am trying to think of something a little different than the balls I usually get him and have wondered about the electronic drumsticks. Any help greatly appreciated.

Not very original however, there is a whole new line of toys out from the Disney CARS movie. I don't know if you have a Target store nearby, but they have a clock radio/CD player that is shaped like one of the characters from the movie.

The perfect gift: they're called "Playhuts" they unfold with a flick of the wrist and fold up for easy storage. You can get one that looks like a car, firetruck, house... no matter where you are, you can bring it along and it becomes his own personal hidding place, fort, play area. If you visit walmart.com and type in "Playhut" you'll see what I'm talking about. Most stores like walmart, target, toy stores carry them... and they're cheap! Good luck.

Have you looked in your area for a music therapist? My sister-in-law does classes and it's kind of like Gymboree but geared towards the individuals needs. Music is a great way to communicate, maybe take him to a live musical or orchestra. Hope I can help!

Well, if I understand correctly he is also a very slow learner?

The electronic drumsticks might be to diffecult but maybe a cheap drum set would work.

Maybe a set of hot wheels cars or something; just as long as he's able to not pick them apart and swallow the pieces.
