You don't need to drink 8 glasses (2 litres) of water a day. You certainly don't need 1/2 your body weight (in oz.) per day. You don't need ANY arbitrary target amount per day. That's just an old wives' tale that has NEVER been supported scientifically. An urban myth!!
Drink when you're thirsty. Period!

You should drink eight glasses or two litres of water or clear liquid, as the others say. If you drink tea or strong coffee, these are diuretics and will dehydrate you, but fruit juice is okay. It's importat in this heat to drink enough water.

Recommended amount of fluid, including meals (e.g. soups) is 2 litres per day. In very warm weather, when you loose lot of fluid by sweating and breathing, you have to drink up to 3-4 litres daily.

There are so many factors that go into how much water you should drink per day that it varies per person.
