I need everyones' opinion. THere is this really sweet lady in my college class. She's the smartest in the class, probably and these girls and one guy continually talk bad about her behind her back (for no good reason -- she goes out of her way to be nice to everyone )and are as nice as can be to her face. It makes me so mad and I have defended her and gotten into with them the last two class periods. If it were me I would want to know who to trust and who not to trust, but I don't want to make her uncomfortable at school or upset her before finals this week. I feel strongly that I want to tell her though. It disgusts me to see them be nice to her face when they talk s... about her so much. Would you rather know or not know? This sound immature (and it is!) but it is bothering me, badly.

That is a very difficult question to try and answer. I would wait until finals are over and then tell her who her "friends" are. She deserves to know the truth, but I think the pain of knowing can wait until finals are over. It will only distract her and take away from what is important. You are a good friend and doing the right thing by her.

All the best to you.

I'm not sure theres much that can be done. Don't tell her before finals, it might distract her. Tell her after finals.. Just be honest. "Hey, theres been people saying some stuff about you, I'm sorry.. but I thought you might like to know. In your defense I defended you, they're just jerks" or something like that. I think I would feel less hurt if someone said it in that kinda manner. Best of luck.. and your a great guy/girl for defending her. :)

EDIT: I think she's gonna find out one way or another later on. It might be just better if you told her.. Wouldn't you rather have someone that cares tell you nicely rather then hear it about yourself from a random person?

No, I would leave it alone.

Ask yourself this, can she fix the problem, is it even worth fixing? Who benefits from her knowing? Why would you want to possibly hurt her feelings when to her they are acquaintances?

Continue cheering her on... and keep your mouth closed. After finals all of them will be moving on and who knows, in the near future they may find some kind of respect for her that would not be possible if she knows how they really feel about her.

By the way, you defending her is awesome, but for the record, you don't have to do this either. All telling her would do in my opinion is either cause her to feel hurt or anger.

In this instance I would rather not know.

Good for you for sticking up for her.
