Because they can. In Israel you may disagree with the government without worrying about getting your head chopped off.

Try that in many Muslim countries and your mouth will no longer be attached to your stomach.

I think that Israelis are demonstrating against the inhumane and excessive force being used by their own government, the government is not " defending itself against Hezbollah" .Rather it is firing more or less indiscriminately, destroying ambulances, homes,lives of innocent children, and probably hasn't killed one Hezbollah individual. I think it will be morbidly ironic if, when the dust settles,the Israelis will discover they have shelled the area where the kidnapped soldiers are being held.All parties involved seem to be totally insane to me, incapable of any rational action.

What?? I wish people would post up front that English isn't their native language.

Hezbollah kidnapped an Israeli soldier and refused to give him back. So Israel attacked.
