Somtimes a little blood leaks out around the tampon or runs down the string. It's OK. Oh, and if a big clot wraps itself around the tampon, it can stop absorption, and you will leak like crazy!

Yes, urine and blood come from 2 different places. It can be just risidual from insertion, but a tampon is not a 100% sure fire way to keeping blood from coming out. Which is why many women have to use a panty liner with their tampon. And why tampon's come in different varieties (heavy flow, normal, light). You may not be using the correct tampon for your flow.

The pee comes from the urethra

In the human female, the urethra is about 1-1.5 inches (2.5-4 cm) long and opens in the vulva between the clitoris and the vaginal opening.

The blood comes from the vagina and therefore it is very common for you to have some blood when you pee.

The blood from your period comes our of your vagina. The urine comes out of the clitoris, which is outside your vagina. When you use the restroom, some blood is going 2 leak out.
