If you are having sex, there is always the possibility of becoming pregnant, so you may be endangering a baby at any time. The same with booze. Yes, it puts women in a tough spot because you usually don't know you're pregnant until after several weeks, but if you are taking the chance, you unfortunately have to deal with the consequences of damaging your baby. Perhaps you should get some medical intervention.

Chances are it wont kill the baby but it does tend to make them more hyper when they are born. It also leads to premature births and respitory problems. Many hospitals tess for drugs in the babies system now too and if they find drugs the report it to the Child Welfare and you will get your baby taken at birth. The best thing to do is to stop smoking right now and hope that there are no problems with the baby.

Nope. You might want to tell your doctor though.
Here's the thing. It's not good for the baby, so quit now. You can't change the past. The likely hood that it will affect the mortality of your fetus is about that of cig smoking. So technically, yes it's a higher mortality rate.
Should you be worried now? No.
One more thing: Don't let jilldaniel_wv response scare you. If you'll note, all statistics say "regular usage"....I've read all the statistics on this...if you quit now, your chances of having a heathy pregnancy are good. So like I said, quit now and you should be fine.
Grats and good luck.

I don't believe it can kill your baby, but if you know you're pregnant and continue to smoke marijuana, #1, you WILL harm your baby, #2, you are totally ignorant, and lastly #3, you don't deserve to be a mother!!

no, i smoked until 7 weeks (when i foundout), and actually in those couple of weeks had done several different drugs. baby was born huge and healthy, and is right on track for everything...she is very good, sleeps at night and hardly cries.
just STOP now. the minute i found out i was pregnant, i stopped smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, drinking coffee, doing coke, everything cold turkey...and it wasnt hard either, because there was someone much more important growing inside of me and there wasn't and isn't anything more important than her health.
good luck!! and dont worry!!

It probably will not cause a miscarriage, however, it increases your chances of having a baby with a birth defect, malformation, learning disabilities, mental slowness, and a host of other problems. This is not to say that the baby cannot come out completely 100% normal. Chances are that it will if it was only one occurrence, however, the risk of problems increases.

I smoked untill I was 3 months pregnant. My baby weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces. I do not think It would harm your baby. Cigarette smoking would probably do worse damage. People tell you not to do it because it is illegal and they probably have never done it. Ask your doctor about it.
