The U.N. passes a resolution calling on Hezbollah to disarm. Then nothing much happens until Hezbollah enters Israeli territory to kill and kidnap Israeli soldiers, whereupon Jerusalem takes it upon itself to enforce that resolution.

Now the "international community" is calling on Israel to exercise "restraint" as rockets rain on Israeli cities and urging an "international military force" to impose a "cease-fire" without thinking though where that force would come from.

Almost, but I do not believe the Hezzbolah crossed into Israel and kidnapped its soldiers. I think the soldiers of Israel were going into Lebanon to see what they were up to and got kidnapped - but I may be wrong - I don't think they were kidnapped on the Israeli side of the border - not that it matters. The rest of your comments are right.

What is really offensive is resolution 1559 passed by the UN and agreed to by Hezzbolah and the Israelis. It called for Israel to withdraw from the Lebonese region and it did. Then the UN set up check points and the Hezzbolah was to disarm. Under those very checkpoints they brought over a 1000 rockets into the region to launch into Israel. How the world does not see this offense, does not compell the UN to change and fix this I do not understand. Its darn right scary the UN can be that bias against a democratic nation on this planet.

You have it right according to the Israeli point of view, but do you know how many resolutions have been passed in the recent years before that reprimanding Isreal for their conduct on the border?

The UN has no clout because we refuse to back any resolution they pass that Bush and company don't like.

Do you know how many Isreali's (including soldiers) are currently protesting what their government is doing?

Don't take this as me being for Hezbollah because I don't agree with the taking of concious life. I think both sides are driven by egomaniacal leaders that care far more about their own ambitions than their people. On Both Sides.

Yes, that si about right.....but you ahve forgotten about the fact that there are 2000 UN forces there, and not only were they there, and did nothing to stop it....they even got pictures, or film on the attack of the Israelis, and the kidapping......also that Egypt and the Saudis havae both said they understand why Israel is doing what they are doing...and say nothing about them doing wrong....Why did the UN forces do nothing? They are there to keep the peace, and have been for 30 years.....the reason? it is not within there mandate to actually stop anything from happening

Have you ever been at a birthday party or other social event for kids, where theres the one kid who is getting into all kinds of trouble, and that kids mom simply says "now honey, don't do that" then promptly turns around and continues talking with some other parent? why the adult hosts of the party run around picking up broken vaces, etc? Anyway, I don't know if you've seen that kind of situation or not, but somehow that comes into my head whenever people are talking about the U.N.

What did you expect from the U.N.? They passed 16 or 17 resolutions on Iraq, and never did anything about them. Then when we wanted to invade and enforce the resolutions, they did not participate.

The U.N. has never done anything worthwhile in it's existence, I dont' know why people listen to it at all.

When you see pics of Kofi and Nassrallah arm-in-arm with 2 of the biggest grins on their faces... it kind of explains it all. Not the usual smile and a handshake shot... no.... arms around each other genuinely happy to be in each others company.

I believe Kofi Annan is an Israel hater from way back.

I wish I could find that pic...

I call the United Nations incompetent. Anyone who has the slightest shred of respect for that organization should watch Hotel Rwanda.

And what is the UN doing about Darfur?

I can wait for an answer, but I don't think Darfur can.
