Why are there so many new (or sorta new) bands out there that have WAY too catchy songs and all the singers sound a lot alike? You see them all the time on MTV and Fuse and I hate them ALL!!! How did they get record contracts? They are horrible song writers and their videos are more important than the song. I know you know what bands I'm talking about. I won't list bands because people will give rude answers.

Unfortunately this is nothing new. It was true in the 1950s (Pat Boone doing Rock and Roll covers). It was true in the 1960s (just listen to any surfer music). It was true in the 1970s (need I mention Disco? -- but if you don't call that Rock, does the song "My Sharona" ring a bell). It was true in the 1980s (Madonna, anyone? -- not to mention heavy metal arena rock). It was true in the 1990s ("Mmmmm Bop"). It is true now -- and it will be true in ten years.

There is a huge problem in music -- and that is that the average person loves to listen to crap.

When I watch shows like American Idol, I see great singers -- and wonder how good they would be if they weren't singing crap.

What do you do? I turn the station when I don't like something. I put music on my iPod that I actually want to hear. I complain to companies when they put me on hold and play crap that I have to hear.

Be active.

It's because they are made and packaged by record companies that have cookie cutter molds they put the bands through before they release albums. Record labels want to make money off the bands so they need to sell. Apparently they don't suck too much because people buy their albums, they are requested on the radio and played on MTV... Exactly what the band and labels want.

Well people only care about there publicity today. What ever gets them more fans. KISS was not knits in satin service, in fact they were Christians, until teenagers mothers started calling them that and there kids thought it was cool.

I would put more but I'm at the library and my time is limited,
E-mail me if you wish.

P.S
I like all music, but I still know what you mean.

Your answer is in your question... they all have record contracts because the idiots that run the labels sign only those "cookie-cutter" bands.... and then, the labels complain about sagging sales. Well, dur!
