If not Muse, then who is?

No - they haven’t had the test of time yet.
Someone mentioned Queen - I wouldn’t call them rock really, not heavy enough.
Kiss - they're glam rock, which isn’t the same
AC/DC is a good example, I'd also suggest Guns n' Roses, Aerosmith and The Who.
As for Rolling Stones, they're officially Rhythm and blues

Muse are not the best...in my opinion U2 are the best.
Different people will have different opinions, it depends on your own taste. Muse are very good though, not in my top 10

Yes indeed, Muse is the best rock band of all time. I just saw them in concert, and their performance reaffirmed my belief that they are the best. I'm sure many people will disagree...but it takes all kinds, ya know?

Who the frick'n heck are Muse for heavens sake? The last great band of any genre was Duke Ellington. There aint no comparison, ever!

AC/DC, you cannot be the best rock and of all time on as few albums as Muse have done to date, even though I do like them.

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You obviously haven't heard much music in your life to ask such a ridiculous question. If they are still around in 5/10/15/20 years and sold 40/50/60/70 million records then come back and ask the same question, until then, NO, they are not the best of all time.

Maybe a bit too challenging to be genuinely "great". (Could get philosophical about mass appeal etc). But pretentious - oh yes. Saying that, super massive black hole is one of my favourite tunes of the year and it's quite atypical so maybe they just don't do it for me generally. It's pseudo-intellectual boy music really isn't it?

Not even close, but what determines "best"? Most albums?, most tours?, most $$$?, etc....
I would have to go with either the Rolling Stones or Aerosmith.

They're good but certainly not the best.
Queen will always have that crown, with Kiss being a very close second. :-)
