If you both like each other, you'll be able to get together sooner. If things aren't going to work out, then you're better off knowing that too!

To be honest, it does not mean that he likes you at all. It just means that he wanted to know why you had someone else call to find out how he was doing when you could have called yourself. Don't make it more than what it really is. But on the brighter side, it does mean that he could be interested in just talking to you as a friend. And who knows, if you all end up liking each other....maybe a romance will jump off between the two of you.
