Oh, I'm the PARENT, of course. This is about PTA.

Talk to the principal of the school. That should start some sparks. I am a teacher and I wouldn't want my boss to call me into her office about disrespecting a student or parent. I haven't had that happen because I respect people as a general rule. You get more with honey than you do with vinegar!

If your teacher is being disrespectful, rather than just responding to an attitude you're projecting, you should have your parents get involved. Are they actually being *dis*respectful, or are they just not as attuned to you as you would like?

Students are entitled to respect from teachers; but make sure that you're doing everything YOU can to give the teacher respect. Are you consistently late for class? Turn assignments in late? Talk during class? Skip class? Are they respectful of anyone in the class? It's rare for a teacher to just "decide" they don't like someone for no reason.

Only you know if it's really for no reason. And if you're convinced you have done nothing to warrant an attitude from this teacher, and you can back it up, then talk with your parents.

Another option would be to talk with the teacher first - with another teacher present. Tell him or her you feel as though there's a problem between the two of you and you'd like to resolve it. Ask if there's something you're doing that's rubbing them the wrong way, and what you can do. That would show a lot of maturity on your part - it would show you're willing to extend YOURself to resolving the problem and not just blaming it on the teacher. He or she may not even realize what they're doing.

Good luck.

Oh yeah - there's no way to "force" anyone to show you respect.

Show your teacher respect. Even if you do this, it does not guarantee that s/he will show you respect. But at least you are not adding to the problem. The teacher might be like this to everyone; s/he might have issues that have nothing at all to do with you. Work hard, do everything that is required of you to get through the semester or school year, and hope that you get someone else next year.

You can't force anyone to respect you. Respect has to be earned.

You can earn it by being honest, helpful, respectful to the teacher, do your work on time and treat you class mates as you would yourself.

If that is too hard, I'm sorry.

You really can't force anyone to respect you. Respect is earned. I'd suggest keeping your mouth shut in class, turning in your work on time, not being tardy, have good attendance, and call your teacher sir or ma'am.

Teachers respect those who conduct themselves in a proper manner. If you use foul language, misbehave, bully others, or cause a problem in any way you will not earn the respect.

Need more details.. Was there a problem between you and the teacher.. if so then you need to have a meeting and discuss the problem and work through it!!

Show 'em just how smart you are by getting every assignment done on time and correctly.... and turned in neatly. Show how you can follow the rules to perfection, by staying quiet, getting your work done, listening carefully, and always being courteous. Show initiative and creativity in building the school community... be a club leader, etc.

Oh, wait... you meant get respect AND be lazy and self-centered? hee, hee, hee, heeeeeee..... (gasp) hehehehehe......!!!

Thanks, I needed a big laugh!
