John Ellis
with
Aaron Goldberg-piano
Roland Geurin-bass
Jason Marsalis-drums

Saw these guys in NYC a couple times. They were so good that at certain parts I started laughing. The songs are great and so are all of the band members.

John Ellis has another band in addition to the band I mentioned. I haven't heard them yet.

PS-If you haven't heard their music I suggest Roots, Branches, and Leaves. In my opinion, it's a modern day classic.
Another PS-John Ellis used to play sax for Charlie Hunter's band. John's stuff is different though. I like it much better.

In my opinion, one of the hottest big bands out there is Harry Connick's. Brian Setzer's Orchestra at Christmas time is hot. I personally also love to hear Larry Carlton and his band anytime they are around. The Yellow Jackets are also smokin! Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are cool for a different twist on instrumental jazz. Best of luck!
