Most inner city violence stems from ignorance and poverty. If our governments were a little more interested in what is going on here on earth instead of the moon , Mars and Jupiter nothing will change. Put some of tax money into helping the poor and the uneducated and then you will see a change.

It's all about working on the issues that may lead to crime... like poverty. I think that inner city violence is part of a bigger picture- one that doesn't support people in poverty. If the programs to pull people out of poverty (medicaid, welfare) actually worked, I think people would have different focuses... doing well in school to go to college rather than falling in with a gang. People in poverty get into destructive lifestyles because they are looking for belonging, and if socitey doesn't believe in them, they turn to the streets for acceptance and find a group of people that will accept them... the gangs that are starting that inner city violence.

Probably the same thing that would curb suburban violence, good education and proper socialization of all involved. Locking people up has not worked yet so why expect it to help now. You cannot just treat the fish in an aquarium that keep getting sick without treating the water in the tank. Because when you put healthy fish in a dirty tank they will get sick again.

People are like animals -- They attack when they are scared or injured. We need to address the issues that make these people feel threatend to start with. More than likely - this is the fact that they are faced with a lifetime of hard work with little to no chance of earning a decent wage due to low levels of education. They also have no respect for themselves which leads to a lessened respect for others. And, i never thought I'd be saying this when I was younger -- but we have got to look at the culture that they are living in!!!! Every song they hear is about sex, drugs, and killing your enemy!!! You know the old computer term.... Garbage in/garbage out. Same thing applies.

Nothing can be done until the people in the neighborhood have had enough. Once they have had enough, they need to work as a unit with the police to get their streets back.
