I would try to put an end to as much poverty and homelessness in this country as I could.
I would also donate some money to abused womens' and childrens' shelters.

If you ever are a billionaire, I hope you choose me!
I would probably buy a house, take a few years off to record a CD, spend money on marketing it(because I wouldn't want to sign a record deal), and then spend the rest of the money to run for congress as a libertarian. Unfortunately, a million dollars isn't enough money to run for congress if you want to compete against those in power, who get money from corporation lobbyists, foriegn agencies, and the government in power, who supports those that agree with them. I'd still try though.
I guess it'd be gone pretty quick, but I'd feel good that I tried to make a difference in the world.
There's another part of me that would want to put it in the bank and live off of it frugally forever, so I'd never have to work. Also, I'd probably spend 10k on the WSOP. I've wanted to do that for a long time. I think I'd do well!

Easy.
Hire a secretary/assistant to finish my work with me.
New car for my wife.
Buy a modest house or condo with a 5K budget for additional furniture.
(I am only down about 50K right now).
Place the money in FDIC insured bank and/or Fidelity - put the money in some interest bearing account.
Take care of some family money (parents, kids, etc.).
Go to Latin America (Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, etc. for an extended vacation/business trip on the cheap. Improve my spanish.
Look for some real estate investment opportunities.
Be kind to my friends (not too much though, the amount of alcohol that they would go through - jees, 1.2 Million is not enough!!!!)

The first thing I would do is pay off some medical bills that I have not been able to take care of. Then I would make some investments and buy a piece of property in France that I have had my eye on. I would invest in St Kits to obtain citizenship in an EU recognized country so that relocating there would be easier. I would create jobs in a bicycle touring company, a series of affordable lodgings, promote tourism to increase tollerance and understanding between countries and continue being a photographer.
There of course would also be donations to good causes, but not just one off donations, they would be in the form of trusts so that the funding would happen in an ongoing manner.

If I were handed 1.2 million dollars, I would give it to Food for the Poor, Inc. for them to build houses in Haiti for those living in tin and carboard shacks. About 2,200 dollars will build one, so I would be housing about 500 families. Would I spend it on myself? Nope. I know someone that was handed lots of free money due to an inheritance and it ruined them. Of course the money is all gone with nothing to show, either.

I am going to donate part to the schools for books and not computers. I am also going to build a walk way from the cars to the school so the kids don't get wet on rainy days. Then I am going to build a recreation center for teens. Then give everyone I work with $1000 for fun. And you too.☺

I would buy a house and a car (even though I'm not old enough to drive yet). I would give some money to each of my siblings and to my mother and father. I would put some away for my future. I would keep some for now. I would give some to charity. After that it would be all spent.

Hire a private investigator and assassin to track down those who post stupid questions and answers on Y! Answers to prevent them from doing so any more. That and spread world peace.
