Keep playing. You'll get calluses and they won't hurt so bad after that. Also, the callus helps hold down the string. I've heard of people rubbing alcohol on their finger tips to dry them out and speed up the callus process. I tried. Don't know if it worked or not.

I am not a guitar player, but my daughter does. Time is the only remedy. It will take time for your body to develop additional skin on your fingertips to protect themselves. Stick with the lessons, it will get better. I played a saxophone and had to develop the additional skin on the inside of my lower lip.

You simply have to build callouses on your fingers. Play through the pain! After a week to ten days it will not hurt anymore. You can soak your hand in salt water to relieve the soreness, it does work....good luck!!

Try to play around with Songe Balls, size of tennis ball.
squeeze them with your fingers, and just play with it.

They will hurt for a while. You're developing calluses. Eventually they will toughen up, and they won't hurt.
