Don't be so quick to throw stones -- you misspelled "illiterate." (And maybe you should have used "Isn't" instead of "Is'nt.")

It seems most people have a phobia about the spell check. I hope it's not a gauge of our schools. If it is we're wasting a lot of money. I think it's mostly laziness, arrogance and apathy. The I just don't care, or so what, syndrome seems to run rampant on this page.
When I went through school my teachers instilled pride for my work in me. I hope that's not what the problem is either, as all these symptoms could be an indicator of our school system here in America.
Everybody knows you didn't use the spell check. "Is'nt? I doubt your mistakes were for grammatical emphasis. Maybe, you should practice what you preach.
We might all end up "illerate" (illiterate) if we follow your cue. The "Check Spelling" function is to the upper right of this typing area. All you have to do is point and click.

I'm going to presume that your errors are supposed to be ironic.
I will say this, though: there was a time that holistic language was preferred over formal grammatical and phonetic instruction. Things have just turned around in the last 5 years or so and are returning to the "basics." However, conventional instruction has proven counterproductive in achieving "error free" writing, and no miracle cure has been discovered as yet.
Furthermore, this is an internet forum, not a term paper. As long as the point is made, the finer points of spelling and punctuation are less relevant here, unless one is concerned with other posters demeaning their intelligence as a result of carelessness.

very little is being taught in schools anymore. this is quite deliberate. what the country needs, in the view of its "leaders," is a large and inexpensive work force, and little else. if people could read and write very well, then maybe they would have some choice about what to do with their lives, and fewer people would be available for use by McDonalds and WalMart. this could cause wages to rise, which would be a bad thing for the country, again, in the viewpoint of our dear government.
p.s., you have spelling errors in your question.

No, and apparently proper punctuation isn't either. Better clean up the mess in your own back yard before you start dissing others for the mess in theirs!
