Any of the hairless dog and cat breeds are good. They take a little getting used to but are really sweet pets. Poodles are also good, but please, please, don't get a poodle cross breed. There are so many health problems related to them because of the crossing.(You cross one type of dog that's already prone to problems, with another that is also prone, and you double the problem)
Look into Devon Rex or Sphinx cats, Chinese Crested, American Hairless Terriers, Mexican Hairless dogs, or Peruvian Inca Orchid dogs. There is also a breed of hairless guinea pigs. And of course hairless rats. Birds are also good companions. They are very affectionate is raised properly, so find a reputable breeder, not pet store bought.

Hate to tell you but i don't think you will find a pet that won't trigger your allergies!!!
My son has allergies, takes shots weekly, and we have cats and the only reason why i have kept the cats is his allergist told me that since we had the cats since he was born then there was really no need to get rid of them.. We do however take our cats, believe it or not, to a groomer once a week to get bathed in a shampoo that helps control the dander.. that is usually what triggers the allergies not the hair.. so you might want to check around with groomers, a dog can be bathed with i'm sure the same shampoo that would help with the allergies..
Now as far as for the asthma i heard that there is a breed of dog that is a good for people with asthma.. i just can't recall the breed!!!

Actually you can get a dog or cat and treat the dander that causes the allergy attacks.
Local pet stores sell all kinds of treats or additives for the water that help to minimize or canel out the animals dander.
Ask a local vet for the best brand and then go from there.

An angora cat has a different type of coat than a regular cat. Allergy sufferers often find they can have one of these cats. There is also a type of dog that I can't recall that is the same. A vet or animal organization may be able to help you.

How about a sphinx cat or a devon rex...shorthaired cat seems to be less shedding than others....very expensive though......or a mexican hairless dog..thing is..are you allergic to the saliva, pelt or danders? Cats always mark with their mouths regardless of hair.....hmmm look at what component of the animal you are allergic to...pelt,saliva or dander or all three..I am allergic to all three of those things in our cat but only mildly. I cannot groom, clean the litter box but can feed and pet occcasionally. I take Allegra and Singular and keep him out of my bedroom. We dust and vacuum often, it helps but I am not severely allergic...asthmatic problems only occur when I groom or if he's been sneaking around and has been on the bed!

A pet rock.... Just kidding. I know that poodles are hypoalergenic (don't cause allergies, or shed). There is alos a new "breed" called labradoodles, that are Lab and Poodle hybrids that are great dogs.
I'm not a poodle guy myself, but I do like the labradoodles.

i've got the exact same problem. still have a dog, but she stays outside. i've heard that chihuahuas and/or poodles are fine for people with allergies, but the most severe reaction i've ever had was because of a chihuahua. so good luck finding one.
i had hamsters for awhile. you can tame them to where you can play with them, so that would be neat. gerbils too. if you want to go for more unusual, you could get a ferret, or some type of bird. they're both cute pets (the ferret more than the bird).

As a dog and cat lover myself, I can understand how fishes and all aren't quite the same. Check out this book: "Sneeze-free dog breeds'. Maybe it'll help. I haven't read it but it's been recommended. good luck

You want to look for pets that don't shed very much. My son has allergies and we have 2 boxers. They do shed but not very much. Not like a long hair one, anyway. I will have to look up the website...I can't remember it right now....but they have like a questionaire for you to fill out and it will help you decide what animal would best for you. That is what I used. Hope this helps.
