.ca = Canadian

There are alot. They deal with what the website is, so you know .edu is a trusted site to be used for research and .org aren't trying to scam you.

.com = Community
.net = no idea :)
.org = organization

There's also - .gov = government

The difference, is that when people create web-sites and choose domain names (your www. name), you can choose which ending you would like. Usually governmental web-pages will use .gov; organizations such as non-profit businesses or something will use .org; but most times, people will stick with .com.
.com is more common, and accessible to the on-line "community".

.com and .net are choices. .org is for an organization. (I know, that probably doesn't help much.) To see other "dot-somethings", go to www.register.com. Pretty informative site, and the place where you register your own dot-something for a fee.

Well, as my English teacher put it, .com and .net are usually trying to sell you things. .org, .edu, and .gov are best for finding information.

.com is for companies and .org is for organizations. There is also .gov for government websites and things like .ca and .uk for countries, in this case Canada and the UK.

They all stand for different things. Like, if its a governement site, then the end of the address wouldn't be ".edu"
